Ooty is famous for its cool climate, homemade chocolates, tea estates, tourist places along with shopping places. Apart from common visiting places like Rose garden, Botanical garden, Boat house, Wellington, you can visit the new places. The journey by train will be awesome similar to traveling through road.
1.Thindal Murugan Temple, Erode.
Located within 8-9 km from erode bus stand as well as erode junction. Local people say that lord Muruga is powerful here.
2.Perumanallur Kondathukaliamman Temple
Historically called as Perumpazhanam. Kundam festival is celebrated in grand manner. This temple is famous for prayers such as child boon, to remove obstacles in marriage talks. The temple will be opened from 6 AM-1 PM and 4 PM-8 PM.
3.Avinashi Arulmigu Lingeswarar Temple
Travel to this place is 20-30 minutes from perumanallur temple. The lords worshiped are Shiva and venkateswara. You can worship god from 5.00 AM-1.00 PM and from 4.00 PM-8.00 PM.
4.Mariamman Temple Karuvalur
Located 8 km from avinashi on the way to Ooty. The specialty of amman here is that amman idol is worshiped in standing position while in other temples the idol is in sitting position. This temple is famous for prayers to cure Eye diseases, chicken pox. The temple is opened from 5.00 AM to 8.00 PM.
5.Then Tirupathi
Located on the way to Mettupalayam and it is a privately managed temple by KG Denim Ltd. Cellphones or any photographic equipment are not allowed inside the temple. Spending money for Pooja/flowers is not allowed since the management takes the whole responsibility. You can have delicious Laddus for Rs.50/laddu and annadhanam given here obviously free and the temple is opened from 5.30 AM-12.30 PM and 4.00 PM-7.30 PM.
6.Breezeland Tea Shop
This is the first tea spot on the way to Ooty. You can have varieties of tea and stands best place for tea lovers. Snacks and coffee too tastes good.
7.SJN school railroad
Nice photographic place.It stands the one and only road to reach Ooty from Mettupalayam. Located few Kilometres from Black Thunder ,a water theme Park located at 5 Kms from Mettupalayam(https://www.blackthunder.in/). You can find Restaurants,Tea Shops near this place. This school and the road will be best viewed from second Hairpin Bend on the way to Ooty.
8.Baraliyar
Cool place to refresh and have snacks since the place is of tea and fruit shops. One of the bus stopping point on your way and be careful of monkeys out there.
9.Double road, Ooty.
Another place full of tea shops for having snacks.
10.Katteri park
Also called “State Horticulture Farm”, located 8 Kms from coonoor. This place is full of blooming flowers, shrubs, lawns, and fruits like Jackfruit and pear. It also has children park inside. The park is also used for education to students of Agriculture, Horticulture and also farmers. The park is opened from 9.00 AM-6.00 PM.
11.Coonor
Located 18 km from Ooty and the place is famous for Nilgiri tea. Catherine falls, Sim’s park, Law’s fall, Dolphin’s nose, Lady Canning’s seat, tea fields are best places to visit in coonoor.
12.Aruvankadu
Located 6 km from coonoor. Nice place to visit the villages to know their tradition and culture.
13.Ketti (Pallathaaku kaatchi)
It is referred to as “Switzerland of Southern India”, a small town with tea estates, houses, and excellent photographic place. Yellanahalli is also a small town nearby having green scenery.
14.Doddabetta
Located 8-9 km from Ooty and surrounded by forests and is the biggest peak. The telescope view gives you the view of the clouds and mountains.
15.Love Dale
One among the highest place above mean sea level, located 5 km before Ooty and has an excellent view of the railway junction.
16.Cinema shooting spot
Located 6 km from Ooty. As the name says it is the place for cool clicks.
17.Pine forest
This place is also a shooting spot and the trees present here are very tall and you can get clicks with deer, bison, monkeys along with your travel mates.
18. Pykara Lake
Lake which forms a waterfall at the end and visited by local people as well as from other places.
